![]() I have not yet locked my Rom/Fed, but when I do I am planning on locking the Klingons, too. Some people say that you lose the autogrind, but once you start getting into the higher levels the agro hostiles that come after you are so powerful that that is not a big plus. Once you lock two of them it's totally up to you to start working on the third. (I started out with Romulan and Federation.) Sure, your faction rep goes a little slower, but the benefits are great. You *will* need those faction credits so try to get as many as you can. Sure, this may mean it will be a few days before you tier, but the long-term benefits are worth it. You want to max those events as often as you can and upgrading ship components is the easiest way to do that. Coordinate your ship upgrades with the faction daily events.Use purpose-built ships before using your main warships, as they have much lower repair times and costs.Half of them before I was in my low 20s Ops. I was able to get my D'Vor, North Star, Discovery, Vidar, Franklin, Jellyfish, Meridian, and Botany Bay without paying a dime. If you complete all the events like I suggested above you will find yourself with these ships in no time. You will be able to get the blueprints for free, it just takes a little time. Build the premium ships, but don't buy them.In GC, most people want to be helpful so you will typically get good advice. Being communicative in your alliance will help build your rep in there. Also, if you're not sure about something, always post in alliance chat or even GC. When event currency comes up, ask your experienced teammates how best to spend it.Not only do territory nodes mine faster, but parking your station in a territory system is a little safer as it makes it more difficult to raid your base. Try to join an alliance that goes after territory.Once you get to Ops 30+ you will either have to spend a bunch of money on mats, or just have to wait until you can earn more. Maybe get one extra for each, but stop there. Don't waste your money on extra building and research slots. Most everything else in the store is a ripoff. The best thing to spend money on is the $20 battle pass.Don't worry about leveling in the leaderboards, but try your best to finish every milestone event. Try not to use your ship XP unless there are two ship events in the daily. Sure, this may mean that your officers level a little slower, but the free stuff you get is worth it. Wait for a daily event to show up where you get rewards for it. Don't burn through your ship XP and officer intel as soon as you get it.Save the ship XP for your miners so you can make room for more crew. You will be surprised how fast your ships level when you're grinding. You'll want to get one Horizon upgraded to Tier 4/5, or so, before building the next so you can protect more cargo. When you unlock the Horizon, build three or even four. Also, once you unlock the Envoy, build two. Will you get blown up on a zero node? Maybe, but the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. This may seem obvious, but make sure you send miners out before you go to sleep. From Ops 1-20 spend the extra minerals on dilithium, then from Ops 20+ alternate between dilithium and parsteel. Spend your swarm minerals on Tritanium, first. ![]() Tritanium will be the RSS you find you need the most.Do all your dailies (except don't bust your ass over the exocomp one). That really helped with leveraging the alliance helps and the 5 minute free repair. That way I could destroy a few near my station and come back and repair. Early on I found it convenient to park my station in a system with hostiles at the level I needed to complete my training missions. Getting your strength up before you bump up an ops level is the best way to help keep you from getting beat down by bullies. The loot chests you get from grinding will really help you tier up your ships. When people don't like you you will find yourself spending more time protecting yourself and it will make it that much harder to get what you need done to advance yourself. Sure, it might not be an ROE violation but it makes you an ass and people won't like you. Also don't do dick moves like attacking an OPC survey ship as it's coming home, or attacking people trying to finish their dailies. Follow ROE religiously!!! If you want to get into (and stay in) a good alliance then don't be a dick.Work on your ships, get officer shards, do missions. Before you jump to the next Ops level make sure you get all your buildings and research done. First, and foremost, don't speed your way through the ops levels.I consider my self semi-F2P because I don't spend a lot on the game. ![]() I'm currently Ops 29 and I've spent about $120 on this game in that time. So, I've been playing for about six months and that still makes me a noob in a lot of ways, but I thought I would give out a few of the things I've learned along the way.
